Terrace awning for a residential building in Leiblfing

Owner Marco Thomas searched for a long time for a patio awning that would fit seamlessly into the linear design of his modern detached house in Leiblfing, Lower Bavaria. As the terrace of the house faces south-east, cooling shade provided by reliable sun protection was urgently required. With the Kubata cubic cassette awning from awning manufacturer weinor, the owner finally found exactly what he was looking for.

"At first, we thought the balcony above would provide sufficient sun protection," reports owner Marcus Thomas, "but it soon became apparent during breakfast on the terrace that the sun was unpleasantly dazzling, and in summer it was simply too hot."

So the young family looked around for a suitable sun protection system. Mr and Mrs Thomas quickly found what they were looking for at specialist company Roglmeier from neighbouring Moosthenning, an expert in patio roofs and sun protection awnings. They chose the linear Kubata cassette awning - exactly what the design-loving owners were looking for.

Clear shapes, no-frills design

"First and foremost, it was important to us that the awning blends in well visually with our façade," reports Marco Thomas. "That's the case with this cubic cassette awning. The clear, no-frills design fits our house like a single mould."

The uniqueness of the straightforward look has also impressed independent expert juries: the Kubata was honoured with the coveted iF Design Award and the German Design Award in 2019.

Wide range of awning fabrics and frame colours

The owner was impressed by the large selection of frame colours and awning fabrics: "The façade of our house is completely in white and grey tones. Thanks to the anthracite frame colour, the awning now harmonises perfectly with the two grey pillars, the lower section of the balcony and our patio furniture." His wife adds: "The façade seemed a little too cool for us without any colours at all, which is why we opted for the wine-red awning fabric. We deliberately added a colourful accent."

More outdoor enjoyment with the patio awning

Now Mr and Mrs Thomas enjoy extended Sunday breakfasts on the patio - without any glaring sunlight or excessive heat. And in the evening, the extended awning keeps the rising heat on the patio a little longer. "A patio evening for two, with family or friends is now even more enjoyable thanks to the built-in LED lighting," reports owner Thomas and adds: "The light and patio awning can be conveniently operated using the awning control.
